About the 5 mg Dose
The 5 mg dose is the first escalation step for both Mounjaro and Zepbound, used during weeks 5 through 8 of treatment. After completing four weeks at the 2.5 mg starting dose, patients double their dose to 5 mg. Some patients with type 2 diabetes may remain at 5 mg as a maintenance dose if they achieve adequate glycemic control with Mounjaro.
